This is a one week long, basic skills course that teaches you the fundamentals of auto glass removal, replacement & repair. You will learn a basic history of auto glass and its progression from classic automobile applications through today's technology-infused processes. You will learn how to how to properly and safely handle glass, use necessary tools to remove and install interior panels, moulding, clips, mirrors and glass. You will also learn crucial techniques for applying urethane to the body and/or the automobile.
You'll start the day with an invaluable pre-course evaluation exam that will help your instructors better understand your knowledge of the auto glass industry. This will help us place you in the right group on day two for learning in a hands-on setting for the duration of the course. The morning will consist of several presentations of basic knowledge and information. The remainder of day one will consist of discussion time regarding Equalizer® tools and developments in the auto glass industry. An optional presentation will follow class as you hear from leading urethane adhesive representatives about the importance of understanding their respective technical guidelines that should be followed for proper installation of auto glass. An additional urethane certification can be acquired after presentation.
You start day two by being assigned to your small team. With your instructor's guidance, your team will work together, focusing on a specific area of glass on the automobile. These hands-on sessions will typically last an average of 2 hours and include occasional breaks. Each team member will be given adequate time to work on glass placement, removal, handling of Equalizer® tools, applying and removing urethane and various automobile specific items. As always, throughout the day, your instructors will be right there with you to answer questions, give advice, discuss different techniques and make sure that you understand the importance of why and how auto glass is an important structural part of the automobile.
Instructors will demonstrate the finer points of using Equalizer® tools and continue with hands-on training, your team will work on a different automobiles and on a different area of the vehicle's auto glass. Your instructors will start class conversations and provide time for a question and answer session to ensure the entire class is understanding and adequately absorbing the material up until this point. However, by now you will likely have formed a mutual friendship with other members of your team and will be working together to solve problems and assist each other in various aspects of the auto glass removal and replacement process.
